The Bag

The reason for this sentiment is this picture:

behold the military field pack

It seems there is an unwritten rule among singaporean males that any army related equipment is socially unacceptable, unless you happen to be in uniform. I am guessing the trauma of going through their totally pointless National Service programme is to blame for their complete obliviousness to the usefulness of an incredible piece of luggage. (the Sing's NS programme only offers a 2 year army training programme, after which most people enter a state of lethargy often accompanied by deep distaste for the defence programme....hence the total pointlessness..go figure).

Its an incredible piece of luggage. Its totally waterproof, with double lining that will keep your beloved laptop safe in the worst of downpours (unless you happen to run an IBM in which case waterproof bags are redundant XD).

Loads of compartments for junk, clothes, chocolates and most importantly....football shoes and sneakers AND your fourth pair of sandals.

And did i mention its only 20 sing dollars? 15 if you drive a hard bargain. I mean, compared to the idiots who ditch this wonderful piece of luggage and purchase inferior Crumpler bags at SGD 100++ (i almost joined this group until i talked to some army guys...which is practically any sing male u see).

The only downside is its total army-ish look....which i kinda don't mind. It can store my laptop and a few textbooks easily , and has loads of padding for comfort, AND it will heck a lot better carrying this around than a wimpish trolley bag when travelling.

Reactions by Singaporan males upon seeing this bag......

Roomie: Sad man........

Zheng Wen: What the heck are you carrying a field pack for???...Eh, got maggie mee inside?
Walkie Talkie?

Garen : It only looks good when its completely full.............

Chun Kiat : Aiyo...............

Get used to it people, you're gonna see this bag every time i have the paranoid need to lug my laptop to class.
