Righto,

Was walking back to my room on friday with Audrey and Boon Chong (NTU pals), when i got into one of those fantasy modes..........probably cos i had watched Iron Man TWICE that week on my laptop.

Tony Stark is cool and Gwyneth Paltrow was wow.....period

Honestly though, I never fancied Paltrow ever until this movie. Pepper Potts, an ultra professional, smart with a soft spot under the business look was scarily quite appealing. I do admit, I do find women with brains, women who can ACTUALLY debate on politics and challenge me intellectually on any topic quite attractive.

*cough*

Ok, back to the post.

So i have finally decided what i want to do with my future billions. By which i mean the part of the billions not put into some high flying portfolios, invested in bonds or whatever new wealth management plans out there at the moment (I admit, i am not financially savvy, apart from the fact that yes, when you're rich, get a wealth management consultant to start getting your unused billions to earn you more billions, instead of letting the cash devalue itself....inflation is a killer these days)

Ok...no more digressing...

I will have a red brickwork villa with white lattic windows on a cliff overlooking a lovely blue sea somewhere in New Zealand or the British Isles. Or even Canada.....i like their universal health care.

The house will have 10 square Kms of land, enough space for me to build at least 10km of track to open up my Bugatti Veyron on.......cause there is the possibility i might not get a driving license, ergo, the need for an in house track.

My home will be monitored by an AI software like Jarvis which Tony Stark has. It will be platform independent, and can run on anything i want it to, my new Mac Pcs or my flying suit.

YES.......I will have a flying suit. Just because its cool. And hey, i might want to go spelunking one day, it might come in handy for.....ermm..........flying in caves when i get too lazy to crawl.

My garage will house 3 categories of vehicles. Sports cars, luxury cars, and motorbikes XDXDXD
I will have a Bugatti Veyron, a Jaguar XK, an Aston Martin Vanquish, a Porsche 911 Carerra GT and a BMW M3 ..........at the very least.

And for everyday driving, i would need at least a Bentley Arnage Red Lable, because i think Rolls Royce is a bit too common.........

Of course, if space is a problem, the garage will be underground. And yes, the Aston Martin will have machine guns coming out of its bonnet.....cause i think its cool too, and i can shoot........................................stuff........like....erm.......Badawi or Najib, if they come nosing around.

I will have at least one cordon bleau chef with me at all times, plus my mom, cos i love her cooking.

OH, and definitely this will be in.........
.
.
.
.
A room filled with chocolates. Its smart too. Jarvis will track my chocolate consumption and based on my rate of consumption of certain brands, will tailor the selection automatically via online ordering of chocs which match my tongue.

And the choc room will be configured with a teleportation device calibrated to teleport anywhere within the house. Depending on my consumption rate, to keep me from dying of diabetes or high blood cholestrol related maladies, the room will be teleported away to some hidden spot everytime i want to eat chocs, so i will get exercise when looking for the room, thus allowing me to eat guilt free XD.

Okies, now back to Fluid Mechanics,

Obama for President

Lets set something straight here.

Bush is has the IQ level of a mentally retarded hamster.

Now that's put aside, lets see who's next in the hot seat.......

Obama *cheers*

Mc Cain *not so much cheer...the residual one is from the part of America with bright red necks*

Okay, so a lot of people have been going on and on about how Obama is so much better than Mc Cain and bla bla bla.....

Quite frankly i am getting a little tired of people just saying "Oh hey, I like Obama cos he's like so different and Mc Cain is ...well.....a Republican"

So, time for a bit of education. You want to know how to spot a good president? Ignore their campaigns and take a good hard look at their history.

"John S. McCain and George Walked Bush grew up in tandem, both favoured third generation sons of prominent Washington families, accustomed to power and wealth and influence. Both were poor students and pranksters and both were drinkers as young men" - Time

"
Bush attended the all-boys school Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, where he played baseball and during his senior year was the head cheerleader. Following in his father's footsteps, Bush attended Yale University, where he received a Bachelor's degree in history in 1968. As a college senior, Bush became a member of the secretive Skull and Bones society. By his own characterization, he was an average student"-Wikipedia

On Barack Obama.....

"
Following high school, Obama moved to Los Angeles, where he studied at Occidental College for two years.[9] He then transferred to Columbia University in New York City, where he majored in political science with a specialization in international relations.[10] Obama graduated with a B.A. from Columbia in 1983, then worked for a year at the Business International Corporation[11] and then at the New York Public Interest Research Group.

Obama entered Harvard Law School in late 1988 and at the end of his first year was selected as an editor of the Harvard Law Review based on his grades and a writing competition.[18] In his second year he was elected president of the Law Review, a full-time volunteer position functioning as editor-in-chief and supervising the law review's staff of 80 editors.[19] Obama's election in February 1990 as the first black president of the Harvard Law Review was widely reported and followed by several long, detailed profiles.[19] He graduated with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) magna cum laude from Harvard in 1991 and returned to Chicago where he had worked as a summer associate at the law firms of Sidley & Austin in 1989 and Hopkins & Sutter in 1990." Wikipedia

In a nutshell, when even Wikipedia is struggling to find something good to write about your education and past acheivement , and you so happen to be the so called more powerful person on earth, my my, you sure are dumb.

Bush only has an effing Bachelor's in history. Obama has a BA in Political Science and is a Harvard trained lawyer. He grew up in Hawaii, lived in Jakarta as a 10 year old and has definitely seen the worse side of life, much more than a pampered young Bush or Mc Cain anyway.

His proposed policies are:

1)Withdrawl of troops from Iraq

2) Decreasing the influence of Lobbyists

3) Starting a National Health Care plan

4) Energy Independence

McCain's are:

1) making ads about Obama

2) selecting an Alaskan redneck who tried to jail her ex-brother in law and loves shooting wolves

3) Keep reminding you that he was a Vietnam POW

4) declaring that by 2013 the Iraq war would be won and Iraq qould become a democracy.

5) reduce the growth of Medicare ( I do pity the 65 year old plus folks with no more government insurance coverage)

No mention of reducing lobby influence on government policy. No mention of unversal health care systems such as the ones in lovely friendly Canada or the UK. And i do find his friendship and past links to George with the IQ of a retarded hamster quite disturbing.

And that Alaskan bitch is quite a turn off by the way.

I like Obama becos he is a man after my heart. A man who cares about the people and not of his own image. I admit, total withdrawl of troops from Iraq is embarassing, but with a budget of over 20 billion a year, the war (for want of a better name) is too expensive.

Cost of getting medical care in America is bullshittily high, thanks to past presidents and congressmen shaking money coated hands of insurance lobbyists.

Obama is right to start planning on ways to decrease the power of these people. And i back him 110 percent.

You want a reason to support a president? Make sure his policies are FOR you, and not for the image of the nation. And make sure he's NOT got the IQ of a retarded hamster.

Freaky Bus Ride

I went out with a really old friend an hour ago for dinner at VivoCity after a 4 click run with him around campus. Shared 3 Carl's Jr burgers between us , bitched and ranted about people and stupidity of the world in general , unsuccessfully went to look for black formal shoes which are withing my budget...
.
.
.
.
.
.................boring no? The highlight is the bus ride back at about 12 midnight during this month, which most of you Chinese readers would know as the Hungry Ghost Month.

After getting off the MRT, i boarded an empty bus alone back to campus and sat on top (its a double decker) to enjoy the view and the peace and quiet.

Now, the bus goes through this seculded part of campus, with a few halls along it. NTU readers would be familiar with the road along halls 11,12,15 and NIE. Now, the route along NIE (national institute of education) is deserted at night with a forest on one side and the bus went along the road there.

What happened next is something i will swear happened. I admit, I am a total non believer of the existance of ghosts and goblins and what not, before i go on.

What happened was this. I turned to the left window (was sitting on the right) and looked out at the NIE campus, and i saw this figure sitting behind me on the left row of seats, OUT OF THE CORNER OF MY EYE. So i turned around the see who it was, and then no one was there.

I shrugged it off and continued listening to my mp3 player.

And then THIS happened:

I FELT A VERY OBVIOUS FORCE STROKING MY HAIR.

Did not turn around this time, leapt up and ran down the stairs to the lower section and sat near the driver.

I am guessing I am so hot nowadays even ghouls want to feel me up XD. (I admit i have been working out..XD)

So anyway, bottom line is, what on earth happened? Do ghouls in fact exist? Me am very confused that I have made an observation which has shaken the foundations of my main idea that ghouls belong to the realms of "True Singaporean Ghost Stories" books.

And it does not help that that such things have happened to people waling or being on that part of campus during the 7th month of the lunar calendar.

Gah you ghouls! Can't you come as a hot indian lady at least? Maybe a Deepika Padukone lookalike??

Deepika Padukone is gorgeous

I am truly Malaysian

If i were to describe us Malaysians in a sentence, it would be this:

"We Live to Eat"

We have foody places all over. Penang, Ipoh, Melaka, KL! We open conversations with "Eh, that hokkien mee place opposite GH.....damn good loh!"

And we go by the adegan:

A Singaporean not eating in Malaysia= STUPID

A Malaysian eating in Singapore = also STUPID

*no offence singaporeans*

*and i mean Malaysians and Singaporeans WILLINGLY eating or not eating, I on the other hand need to live, as it is i have the ability to replace skeletal exhibits in medical schools, hence i eat sing stuff*

So, you happen to not be totally convinced. That food=malaysian. That we are in fact synonymous with good asian food. Read further:

What happened on Sunday (10/8/08)

My folks were getting pretty lonely down in KL. Dad especially was going bonkers with the total abscence of any males around the house (even the dog is female). No one to discuss football or science of philosophy with anymore. I can understand.

So they drove down to Sing for the day and the initial plan was:

1) Drive down.
2) Pick me up from NTU
3) Drive to NUS to see bro.
4) Check out the float bro engineered for his hall for a parade on campus
5) Lunch in Sing
6) Dinner in Sing
7) They leave in the evening

But the adegan above plus the fact that we happent to be foodies, it kind of resulted in this:

1) Drive down.
2) Pick me up from NTU
3) Drive to NUS to see bro.
4) Check out the float bro engineered for his hall for a parade on campus
5) Lunch in Sing
6) Dinner in Sing Melaka
7) They leave in the evening We get on a bus from Melaka back to Sing.

Which quickly became:

1) Drive down.
2) Pick me up from NTU
3) Drive to NUS to see bro.
4) Check out the float bro engineered for his hall for a parade on campus
5) Lunch in Sing
6) Dinner in Sing Melaka
7) They leave in the evening We get on a bus from Melaka back to Sing No bus to Sing after 8pm.Take cab.

I'm tired of reposting the damn list, so this is what happened THEN:

We got a cabbie to take us to Sing and we agreed to fork out a said amount for bro and me and one more passenger. We were supposed to leave by 10.30pm in this car:

except that ours was yellow and had a cab sign on its roof.

Turned out, the third passenger FORFEITED (for lack of a better term), and the fella upped the price to RM250 for a trip. Being Malaysian, we walked away (after bargaining of course..and failing).

A detour here about food:

The reason we did not bother dining in Sing was that there is this really awesome Chinese Teo Chew place in Melaka which uncle discovered 18 years ago and we have been coming to that place at least once a year.

The food is out of this world ( I have blogged about it before in one of my earliest posts btw). And us being Malaysian, we do not mind taking trouble to drive from KL to Sing and back to Melaka just for the stuff.

Another Malaysian trait is gonna come in now. Kiasu-ness i'm afraid. Cos you see, the place is extremely popular with KL-ites and Singaporeans and tables are very very limited..you need a damn booking to get in (but cos the Tao Kay knows dad, its easy for us).

That being said. Its location will not be revealed here. Only is you msn me or call me will i open my beak. Sorry, but when we want to go, i want to get a table. Look on the bright side though, its all in the name of good food. If you're Malaysian, you'd understand.

Moving on, this place has good stuff, that being said, please please, if you go there, DO NOT BE A SMART ASS AND TRY TO GET THE CHEF TO COOK ACCORDING TO YOUR STYLE. Eat what he recommends.

So this is what we had:

Oyster noodles

Deep fried soft shell crab with honey

...also....bittergourd with pork ribs and sweet and sour chicken and steamed Pomfret

Okay, the best items to get if its your first time here are the oyster noodles, frogs legs and the soft shell crab. The chicken was normal though , but i loved the pork and the fish.

And, if you happen to be an alcoholic ;) , do try to 10 plus year old bottles of scotch lying about:

10 plus year old stuff.

I have no idea how old these are. Its dusty and only one bottle has been opened, and its only 3/4 drunk. Am guessing its rocket fuel in there, which reminds me, US can fuel the moon mission easily enough.

Back to the ridiculous cabbie:

So, we were left with no choice but to drive to Singapore, and it was already 11pm. Cause bro had college the next day you see.

The problem was, it being late, Dad tends to get tired and driving back would be dangerous.

Then mom had an idea.

You know (if you have taken busses before) that express busses stop enroute for toilet breaks and all? Usually at these rest areas along the PLUS highway. So we headed for the Pagoh one , 30mins away from Melaka to find a bus with a few empty seats.......
.
.
.
.
.
.

.......and boy were we lucky. There were 2!!! And BOTH were these ultra luxurious ones with Wifi and what not in them. If you travel from Sing often, you would know em.

Odyssey and NICE. Odyssey (never been in one before) is like 60 SGD , but it comes with stuff like WiFi and massage chairs and a lounge below. NICE is the same, minus the WiFi and the massage chair and the lounge below.

Excuse the Redundancy.

So I asked the chaps in the Odyssey while bro went over to NICE. Odyssey was full, NICE had exactly 2 empty seats on it. :P:P:P

Chap asked for 50 bucks each and so we coughed up and hithced a ride. And believe me, it was value for money. We were in Singapore within an hour and it was awfully comfy.

And our folks drove back to KL in 2 hours.

The Random Post with Pictures

I guess from the sheer lack of wit and creativity in the selection of the title for this post alone, you could guess that YES, I am bored and have to turn to blogging as a form of entertainment at this moment. That and also the fact that its late and my creativity is at an all time low (i know, i know, i have been using this line a lot for the random stuff i post at times....so live with it).

I think the KL Performing Arts Centre is an exhibition of good architecture.

You see, i grew up in this area and where the KLPAC used to stand, there was a large railway workshop with actual tracks leading into a building on the KLPAC's very spot. That very building has in fact been preserved and the old parts of it have been merged with the Centre. Its asthetically wonderful. And its even got this really nice park around it....where there used to be a rundown, overgrown place.

Yes, I can be childish at times. My lab partner (Suky) and I in our prof's lab.

Showing off my expertise in the art of disguising oneself.

My roomie is an animation student from Brunei and the above papier marche (hope i spelt it right) is a characted from his stop-motion film project in Year 2. The above costume is a product of chronic boredom and having too much paper.

What an hour before rush hour looks like in the Midvalley KTM station. Luckily for us, KTM is planning on introducing new wider and longer trains. Lets hope they get to KL before every KL-ite stops feeling human and starts imitating the social behaviour of sardines (the ones whom use the public transport system that is...and have to endure sardine can conditions at 4 or 5pm).

It is during times like these I love Singapore.

coconuts are held in reverence....told you this post was random

KL Sentral. This is the train i take to and fro from Singapore. Time is 9pm

Now, if you do not mind the clickaty-clack of wheels on tracks nor the lond 10 hour journey to Singapore by KTMB, the sleeper class is perfect. Its safe (busses have a greater tendency to crash) and comfy (you can actually strech and sleep)

My bed on the train. Its got curtains for privacy when you sleep. And a large window for a view. Pointless at night, but oh well...its still there.

First Class cabins. Costs RM120 i think per person. Its nice though...obviously for first class.

Woodlands Station at 7am.

just a lot of stairs on campus

I live in Halls of Residences built 8 years ago....obviously on a shoestring budget. No lifts whatsoever and stairs EVERYWHERE. Which explains why even after a jar of nutella a week, i still look slighly on the malnutrition side.

more stairs on my block

Cheers and have a great hol people!

Jack Nicholson is the better Joker

I am very very very sorry to say this. Jack Nicholson is a better Joker compared to the late Heath Ledger. And by saying this, i am fully aware i am going to piss off a lot of Ledger and Christian bale fans out there.

No, i am not saying Heath Ledger is a bad Joker. He was good. Hats off to that. But it so happens, for the role of a psychopathic criminal with a twisted sense of humor, Jack Nicholson comes out tops anyday.

Jack Nicholson was the Joker in "Batman" with Michael Keaton (too soppy faced to be the bat) and
Kim Basinger (was ok in the movie) ...for non Batman fans......true batman fans would remember the fils for the sheer pointlessness of it.

That plus the bad casting in "Batman" plus the hype surrounding "The Dark Knight" and Ledger's death and the awesome storyline plus Christian Bale is probably why you guys would now come to relate Joker with Heath Ledger.

The Dark Knight was a movie along the lines of Lord Of the Rings. Epic. Perfect. I have never seen Heath Ledger act so well. And Christian Bale is by far the best Batman ever.

The only complaint i have is...Jack Nicholson, had he been cast as The Joker would have elevated the movie's status to the Star Wars level...legendary.

You see, i have reasons for this. Jack Nicholson's Joker is comic book accurate. He encompasses what The Joker should be. A character with sharp makeup, not the sloppy version of Heath Ledger's, though the effect was very very good nontheless.

The Joker plays more jokes, makes more puns (from the cartoons and comics), is a coward (which Heath Ledger's one was NOT) and dresses smartly albeit a little eccentrically, not shabbily (Heath Ledger again). His hair is well done and is not a messy mop.

Nicholson got all this perfectly. It was just unfortunate Tim Burton was the director in charger, and despite his success, a serious comic book character portrayal is something he fails at. Bad script and casting let Nicholson down.

Would he have a made a better Joker than Heath Ledger?

DEFINITELY.

He has experience in acting as a psycho (The Shining) and his very character matches the Joker, the way he carries himself and talks....you could always sense a kind of underlying menace to him despite the smiling exterior...the perfect Joker.

That being said, is Heath Ledger a bad Joker?

NO.

The Dark Knight was cast perfectly, a damn good strong storyline and The Joker portrayal was perfect except for the costumes, makeup and the lack of lunacy.....cause you see...Heath Ledger's Joker was always on the plan, and despite him acting as a very convincing luncatic, it was through his actions and random murder and sick plots, the lunacy shines thorough, not though the character himself as Nicholson showed in "Batman".

That being said my final point is this:

Heath Ledger was a damn good Joker, but Jack Nicholson is portrayed in The Dark Knight, would have been god like.

Cheers Mates!
